Bridging science and industry by knowledge transfer, with participation of high-profile scientists, EU Commission, MEPs, Food Industry, SME associations and project coordinators.

On 11th and 12th October 2012,during the "10 th OPEN DAYS OF REGIONS AND CITIES" the CommNet network, communicating the bioeconomy, together with the Food Cluster Initiative, which joins regional food and bio-projects in the European Research Area organize the first Food-Agriculture-Bioeconomy (FAB) forum in Brussels. The project partners ttz Bremerhaven and PRACSIS form the CommNet organizing committee. The Forum is supported by the European Union’s 7th Framework Research Programme and aims at building a bridge from EU-research to EU-industry.

ttz Bremerhaven will actively take part in the FAB forum on Day I, 11th October at 15:00 h. After F.A.B. Projects demonstrate their transfer experiences at 14:15 h, Christian Colmer, Head of Communication and Media at ttz Bremerhaven (Germany), Kerstin Lienemann, Dt. Institut für Lebensmtiteltechnik: DIL; Brussels Office (Belgium), Prof. Eric Sas, University Ghent (Belgium) and Gill Marmelstein, Marine Institute (Ireland) will assess together the F.A.B. experiences from the viewpoint of tech-transfer (TT) organizations, especially the usage of TT tools in the bioeconomy.

The European Union responds to the rising global issues in the areas of Food, Wellbeing and Environment in many ways. The organizing committee of the 1st FAB Industry Forum adapts these topics and focuses on strengthening the European bioeconomy and – industry by knowledge transfer adequate to the requirements of industrial stakeholders.

With its activities, trainings and industry forums CommNet aims at supporting bioeconomy research projects in effective communication of their research results. The goals of the network are to make bioeconomy research relevant and accessible to adults and children, politicians & industry. CommNet is managed by the CommFABnet project, funded by the European Commission, Framework Programme 7, KBBE Programme, and co-ordinated by youris.com EEIG.
